I have absolutely no reason to continue watching Skins.

I probably will anyway. But I didn’t like last season very much. Grace was my favorite character. I LOVED Rich and Grace.

And now that’s completely fucked. I knew it was going to happen but I just kept hoping….

I’ve been watching the first gen. Skins this past week and it was so great. So was the second gen. It’s not that I don’t like the characters in this one, but the writing is just not as good as it used to be.

And why do they have to kill someone in every generation? That part is so predictable now it’s just a matter of who.

For some reason I’m having a harder time accepting this one. I had to watch it more than once to get my head around it, then read tags, then check Jessica Sula’s twitter.

This is almost as bad as the cancellation of United States of Tara.

I’m thinking this will be the end of Skins.

I feel gutted.

Skins Series 6 Episode 2.
well. i don’t know. i can’t really take this. as always, forewarned, don’t keep reading if you haven’t watched, because, well, this is going to be spoiler city.
i hated the first half of this episode. why? because i knew my prediction was coming true, but also, there were one too many music montages for me. i know that Rich is a musical character, but him and Alo’s band were given a little bit too much of the spotlight given the magnitude of the episode and what it means for the rest of the season.
i am also now convinced that this episode was a confirmation that this is the last series of Skins for the foreseeable future. if i’m totally wrong and they’re casting a new generation as we speak, then good for them. but the sense of finality in this episode was GLARING worse than the lens flares in a JJ Abrams movie. but let’s get on to business:
Grace, my beloved grace. i knew she was a goner at the end of last series. but the second episode in? only to be replaced by the kid who essentially killed her? it’s fucking with me. i almost cried. almost. then i was just like ‘Holy fuck they’re throwing out the Skins rulebook. everything goes now.”
my biggest quirk is Rich. what do they do with Rich now? he was absolutely heartbreaking in this episode. i have to give him kudos on really selling the audience with his face and body language that he was broken without her. those final 5 minutes with the shattered phone literally crushed me even though i knew what was coming. his storyline seems to be over with in the second episode of the series. i mean i appreciated the small conversation he had with Liv (who seems to be the voice of reason character much like Naomi from the previous generation), but what happens to him now? the Alo/Mini storyline has nothing to do with him even though Alo is his bro. i mean, this new kid, who essentially is the cause of Grace’s death comes in and seems to fuck everything up. one can only hope that Rich fucking loses it and stabs this kid in the heart and says something dramatic. sure, Franky’ll come around, but she’s also one of the reasons Grace is dead. how will that play out? can we have a murder and a death in one series of Skins?
a devoted fan can only hope. according to the episode title leak, “Grace” was supposedly the second to last episode, but i guess that was wrong.
now i have to figure out how to fall asleep before waking up for work tomorrow with my stomach feeling like it was gutted and my heart broken. RIP Grace. i’m really going to miss her. it’s such a shame she wasn’t given more of a showcase this series.

When he looked into her dark eyes, and saw that her lips were poised between a laugh and silence, he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke — the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love. Something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert. Something that exerted the same force whenever two pairs of eyes met, as had theirs here at the well. She smiled, and that was certainly an omen — the omen he had been awaiting, without even knowing he was, for all his life. The omen he had sought to find with his sheep and in his books, in the crystals and in the silence of the desert.

It was the pure Language of the World. It required no explanation, just as the universe needs none as it travels through endless time. What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no needs for words, she recognized the same thing. He was more certain of it than anything in the world. He had been told by his parents and grandparents that he must fall in love and really know a person before becoming committed. But maybe people who felt that way had never learned the universal language. Because, when you know that language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.

Maktub, thought the boy.
